Taxation

Our Tax Department handles UK and international affairs on behalf of personal and corporate clients. Our highly experienced team is responsible for the identification of tax planning and savings opportunities which can arise from changes in legislation or a client's circumstances. To this end we are keen that we meet with clients at suitable intervals to review the opportunities which exist - or may be created - and the situations which should be avoided.

Our compliance role covers preparation of Tax Returns, checking assessments or "Taxpayer's Statements", PAYE codings, preparation of Personal and Corporation Tax computations, and reaching agreement with the Inland Revenue. We are thereby covering all aspects of the onerous self-assessment regulations for individuals and companies.

As with all our departments, technical research for the provision of specialised advice is facilitated by our extensive in-house database.

Corporate Planning

We offer the real advantage of strong taxation expertise combined with the commercial accounting skills. This enables us to take a complete overview of a client's business needs. We will work with you to develop your business in the most financially efficient manner with the aim of enhancing your wealth.

We are able to assist in the formulation of business plans as well as advising on mergers, acquisitions and disposals. Through our work in this area we have experience in corporate flotations.

Consultancy

Irrespective of size, businesses require access to a vast range of advice and information. Indeed, one survey suggests that the managers have to make up to 3,000 decisions per year on the running of their businesses. Many of these decisions relate directly to their financial health.

We have the breadth of knowledge and experience you would expect to find within much larger firms of financial advisors, yet we are small enough to be able to take a personal interest in a client's affairs. Our clients take comfort from the fact that they are encouraged to use us as a sounding board on a day-to-day basis. This helps us to ensure that problems - and opportunities are identified at the earliest possible moment and then controlled to optimum effect.

Business Recovery

Consulting an Insolvency Practitioner earlier rather than later often results in the successful continuation of a business and should be viewed as being a constructive action (which will be appreciated by creditors), and not seen as a last resort!

We are one of only a few firms active in the field of Company Voluntary Arrangements. We are particularly experienced in the application of Individual Voluntary arrangements - a flexible alternative to personal bankruptcy - which can be used to the benefit of both creditors and the individual. We also represent clients at Creditor's Meetings and provide reports of the proceedings.

When a business cannot be saved we can undertake all types of insolvency procedures for both corporate and personal clients. We are pleased to assist on either a formal or informal basis but, in all instances, we never forget the human dimension of what is usually a sensitive area for clients, their employees, suppliers and customers alike.

Accountancy

In addition to the basic preparation of management and annual accounts, we provide a wide range of accountancy services to large, medium and small businesses, including start-up ventures and sole traders. Advice and implementation may cover the maintenance of a client's records, including VAT and PAYE compliance, and the installation or monitoring of manual or computerised systems. We are pleased to recommend software programmes compatible with the systems of both parties, simplifying the transfer and management of data.

Audit

We are Registered Auditors acting for public and private companies, charities, associations and other regulated bodies. This may prove to be an important consideration when presenting accounts to secure substantial loans, raise funds or report to publicly accountable organisations.

At Nunn Hayward we aim to minimise the compliance cost element, avoid disruption to normal business activity and make the audit a basis for providing pro-active advice to management.

Payroll Bureau

Our Payroll Bureau provides advice and assistance to businesses experiencing the growing burden of payroll legislation. This covers both monthly and weekly payrolls, and year-end reporting. Also included are the more complex aspects of employee remuneration such as statutory maternity pay, statutory sick pay and redundancy compensation

Secretarial

The duties of a Company Secretary are largely those of compliance and we are pleased to undertake this work on behalf of, or advise, the nominated Company Secretary.

We handle Annual Returns to Companies House, lodgement of accounts, formal notices and procedures for Annual General Meetings, share issues etc., and maintenance of a company's statutory records, We are also pleased to provide a Registered Office facility.

Fee Protection

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) policy director recently stated it aims to claw back an extra £3.5 billion every year until 2008 to set against revenue lost to tax avoidance issues.1
